Met Gala 2024
The Met Gala is an annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City, and it's known for its extravagant fashion and celebrity attendees.
Each year there is a specific theme picked for the gala. Once a theme is selected, it serves as the central inspiration for the fashion, decor, and overall ambiance of the Met Gala.
Designers, stylists, and attendees use this theme as a guide when creating their outfits and interpretations for the event.
The theme for the Met Gala is typically chosen by the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
The selection process involves curators, fashion experts, and museum officials who consider various factors when determining the theme for each year's event.

2024 Met Gala Theme
This years Met Gala is back on the first Monday in May, celebrating the Costume Institute's new exhibition titled 'Sleeping Beauty: Reawakening Fashion'. Guests will dress to the theme of 'The Garden of Time', inspired by a J.G. Ballard story.
I am expecting to see a lot of floral this year.
The exhibition will display 250 historically important garments, known as the "sleeping beauties", as they are too fragile to wear again.
One of the most delicate pieces among them is an Elizabethan bodice paired with a silk satin ball gown dating back to 1877, made by the American couturier, Charles Frederick Worth.
Designs from Elsa Schiaparelli, Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, and Hubert de Givenchy will be featured.
Every year, the Met Gala features several A-listers as hosts, and this year's lineup is exceptionally stylish. Bad Bunny, Jennifer Lopez, Chris Hemsworth and Zendaya served as co-chairs for the evening.
The Theme and Execution of the 2023 Met Gala
The theme for last year’s gala was "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty", a great tribute to the late designer who passed away in 2019.
Under his years as a designer and creative director, Lagerfeld got to work alongside multiple of the biggest luxury brands, including Balmain, Patou, Chloé, Fendi, and Chanel, to name a few.
These were the brands we got to see the most on the carpet, paying tribute to his late work.
Lagerfeld had a beloved cat, Choupette, who he adored and some celebrities chose to pay homage to his cat through their looks.
